Middle School Summer School Teacher – Mathematics Mindset Camp (1 positions)

 

Reports To:  Middle School Summer School Administrator

 

July 8 – August 15, 2024, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., plus 1-day training.

 

Compensation: $4,850 ($50.00 per hour for 97 hours)

 

Mandatory Training: Teachers must attend paid training at the MISD on June 17, 2024, from 8:30 – 3:00, and a staff meeting prior to the start of camp.

 

Summary of Duties: To help students learn mathematics content using instructional programs provided by the Macomb Intermediate School District on Mindset Mathematics. To help students develop study skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women who live in a global society. The summer camp will run from 8:00 – 11:10 with a breakfast and lunch provided to students. Staff will report to at the start of the program and stay 50 minutes after the program for student supervision during breakfast/lunch and prep time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Teaches District approved program/curriculum
  2. Administer Pre and Post tests
  3. Maintain lesson plans
  4. Maintain daily log of activities
  5. Help plan activities prior to the start of the program
  6. Plan appropriate instruction to support student needs
  7. Differentiate instruction and accommodates for the needs of all learners
  8. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  9. Sets clear classroom expectations for academics and behavior
  10. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curricular goals; establishes clear purpose and expectations for all lessons, units, projects and communicates the expectations to students
  11. Monitor and supervise students during snack times
  12. Assesses and evaluates students’ academic achievement on a weekly basis and promotes students as they accomplish their learning goals; keeps accurate records of student achievement; prepares reports of progress for students and parents
  13. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated
  14. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes
  15. Performs other duties as assigned by the Summer School Coordinator
  16. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
  17. Employee shall properly implement Board Policy 3122, Policy 4122, and Policy 2260 on non-discrimination and shall comply with Federal and State laws and regulations, particularly Part 1 104 of Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (34 CFR) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

 

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree; Masters Preferred; Highly Qualified in Reading and/or ELA Preferred; Teaching experience preferred

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Elementary Teaching Certificate

 

Communication Skills: Read, analyze and interpret materials including assessment materials. Write with clarity. Effectively present or facilitate information and respond to questions from groups.

 

Reasoning Ability: Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.

 

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement differentiated lessons based on school expectations and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
