Summer School – Elementary Secretary

6 Week Position – 4.5 hours per day

 

 

Nature of the Position:

 

Under the general direction of the Summer Building Principal, the summer school secretary performs various administrative duties and responsibilities required, using knowledge of the school district’s rules, regulations, practices, and procedures.  The summer school secretary exercise independent judgment in performance of job duties. 

                                                                            

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma preferred.
  2. Post high school secretarial-clerical training and/or previous clerical or secretarial school experience preferred.
  3. Previous summer school secretary experience preferred.
  4. Demonstrated aptitude for the activities to be performed.
  5. Evidence of computer literacy; software programs including Microsoft Office, Windows, and spreadsheets.

 Job Duties:

  1. Receive visitors, phone calls, and other types of contact with the public, parents, students, teachers, and other district personnel; receive and place phone calls for the principal; provide appropriate assistance and information.
  2. Dispense prescribed medication to students according to parental/doctor requests and document accordingly. Responsible for the secure storage of medications.
  3. Serve as liaison to teaching staff for purchasing and procurement of materials. Type purchase orders and requisitions, receipt of items, and processing completed orders for payment.
  4. Prepare various school mailings/publications/newsletters, as requested.
  5. Maintain confidential student files and records, i.e. grades, psychological, court and medical documents.
  6. Prepare data file for attendance, teachers’ grade, and attendance reports.
  7. Other duties as assigned.
  8. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
  9. Employee shall properly implement Board Policy 3122, Policy 4122, and Policy 2260 on non-discrimination and shall comply with Federal and State laws and regulations, particularly Part 1 104 of Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (34 CFR) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

 

Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
